Amazon announced to march into Japanese streaming market, coming after Netflix

There are intense competitions of streaming gaints among Amazon, Netflix and Hulu in the United States market. And now that they are working on marching into Japanese market. Amazon has announced its plans to exploit the Japanese market after Netflix’s announcement.

According to the report of American entertainment giant Hollywood Reporter, Amazon will offer subscribed streaming service to Japanese consumers from September. Just like the service it offers to American consumers, Amazon will offer “Prime video” service to its yearly subscribed free-shipping membership, charging about $ 32 postage each year.Then the Japanese consumers don’t need to pay further extra fee to enjoy TV shows and movies.

Amazon has entered and been stationed in the Japanese market for over ten years, and the Prime free-shipping subscription membership has been running for a few years.

Its CEO of Japanese Amazon, Jasper Cheung cliams that Amazon will offer its membership with high quality locoalize shows in streaming service just as it did in US and other countries.

He indicates that it has been 15 years that Amazon selling the video products and DVDs in Japan, it has learn much about Japanese demands for video entertainment contents. Therefore, the company decided to release this streaming service without charging extra fee.

Comparing with Netflix and Hulu rivals, Amazon’s video service is an additional content of Prime free-shipping memebership.It aims to attract more memberships by offering this video serivce so that it stimulates the primary business of network retail trade.

Netflix announced that it will team up with Japan Softbank Corp early this week. It will begin to offer Japanese localized movies and tv shows from September 2. Japan Softbank Corp will introduce Netflix streaming service to its local market as it takes up a great share in mobile business service. It would be a great assistant to exploit Netflix’s streaming service there.

Amazon and Netflix have great ambitious to gain more market shares in Japan, while Hulu failed to introduce its service in Japan and it had already quit from there. Hulu may focus on US market in the future.

Netflix eventually expand its domiant position in US copyright streaming market, coming Amazon lag behind. Hulu’s hestiatation in developing streaming serivce leads to enlarging the difference among Netflix and Amazon.
