Install APK in Chrome OS? It will be Quick and Easy in the Future

It’s easy to install apps on Android smartphones and tablets using the APK package, and you just need to open the “from unknown source” switch in Settings. However, it may not be so easy to install an APK package from unknown sources on Chrome OS. Before the operating system allows users to install applications outside the Google Play store, users will have a lot of extra works to install APK from a third-party source.

install APK in Chrome OS

Android apps coming to Chromebooks might very well be the defining moment for Google’s Chrome OS platform. In our usage of Android apps on Chromebook, we have found Chromebook’s functionality to have multiplied innumerably. However, there’s one catch, that is, many apps on the Play Store aren’t compatible with the Chromebook. For instance, apps like WhatsApp, Instagram, Uber, Inbox by Gmail, Chromecast, PayPal and more are incompatible because of various reasons like the fact that Play Store treats the Chromebook as an Android 6.0 tablet, the lack of GPS on Chromebooks etc.

Thankfully, you can always sideload Android apps through APK files but Chromebook natively does not support these files. The good news is, there’s a way to install APK files on Chromebook and that’s what we are about to tell you.

So how can you install APK package from unknown source? The user must first enable the developer mode and disable startup validation and other security features, and when the device starts, the user must also press the combination key.

Obviously, the installed process is so complicated because Google are likely prevent users from randomly installing unknown APK packages on Chrome OS, but the situation will be changed, according to UberGizmo.

A new code submission was found in Chrome Gerrit, which revealed that Google will soon allow Chrome OS administrators to enable or disable APK side loading. This will make it easier for organizations or schools that have already deployed Chrome OS to deploy applications to users without having to distribute them through Google Play stores.

If it is true in the report, it is predictable that Google’s strict stance on installing third-party sources of APK files on Chrome OS is changing, and in the near future, installing APK files on Chrome OS will be as fast and simple as Android smartphones and tablets.

Unreleased Microsoft Surface Music Kit Show up in eBay with Only $11.99

Surface Music Kit Show up in eBay with Only $11.99

Do you have the memory about Surface Music Kit, the unreleased accessory from Microsoft’s now-abandoned family of blade concepts for its Surface devices, now has popped up on eBay recently.

And the popped up Surface Music Kit of Microsoft is only on sale for $11.99 dollars on eBay, and you can go and purchase it then.

Back during the launch of the Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 in 2013, Microsoft showed off what was to be the first in a line of accessories, called blades, for the Surface family. Called the Surface Music Kit, the blade would take the spot of the keyboard on a Surface device and give access to touch sliders and buttons to help with music creation and remixes.

This is such cool music device, but it is unknown why Microsoft abandoned it at that year. Microsoft, though, is always doing things unexpectedly, not long ago, the Forward Cut Surface Mini just appeared in the leak pictures.

The Surface Music Kit quires to work together with the independent Surface Music Kit APP, which automatically turn on when connected to the blade, and it can be configured in more detail in the software. From there, the app, combined with the 16 keys and sliders on the blade, let you do things like loop and mute tracks with a tap. The keys are also pressure sensitive, so you can do some pretty unique things from within the software.

Last but not the least you should have known, according to the official, the blade supports Surface Pro (original), Surface 2, and Surface Pro 2.
